One of our Core Values at Microlise is We Care. One of the ways in which we do this is by giving back to our local community. In March, a small group of Microlise employees supported in decorating the facilities at the Women’s Centre in Nottingham for the charity Juno. The aim was to freshen up the space, but it did more than that; it made it feel cosy and homely, with the addition of new wall art, chest of drawers, cushions and a new sofa that Microlise was able to provide – was a real transformation.

Juno is the largest domestic abuse organisation in Nottingham, and one of the largest in the UK. They work with women, children, and teens who have been affected by domestic abuse. At any one time, they are supporting 500-600 women and children in Nottingham and South Nottinghamshire.

Juno does such important work providing women with all kinds of support against domestic violence and it was a real privilege to work with them and be able to give something back. The team worked fantastically well together and achieved an amazing result that Juno were beyond grateful for.

Here are some reflections from the Microlise team:

Kerri Kirk – HR Advisor

I had a fantastic day, it felt great to be able to do something so meaningful and I loved getting to know the other four women and build my internal relationships. I would highly recommend volunteering through Microlise in the future.

Hayley Hurrell – Customer Experience Manager

It was a rewarding day for me to know that I had contributed to a space where women can go and feel safe and supported. Talking with the staff has helped me gain a better understanding of how they assist and provide support”.

Esme Short – Graphic Designer

It felt good to know that I was able to spend a day making a difference to our local community, knowing that the work we did will benefit many women and help to make them feel safe when they arrive at the centre. Getting to speak to the women that work there gave me a real insight into how important the centre is and how much the work we did will benefit them and anyone that visits there.

Val Love – Software Engineering Manager

It was an absolute pleasure volunteering at the Woman’s Centre to help provide a warm, safe and cosy space for those who need to drop-in for help. As a family member and friend of woman who have needed such services over the years, knowing just how much this means to so many unfortunate woman, it felt like the least we could do. It was also a great opportunity to bond with woman from Microlise, who I do not work with on a day to day basis, and I definitely left with more friends than I went in with and it gave us chance to discuss what we can do in the future to help both the centre and Microlise staff. A great day!!

Lex Demetri – Billing Assistant

Watching the room transform in just one day was very satisfying. The whole experience was really fun, and I am grateful that we had the opportunity to help the Women’s Centre through Microlise.

Giving Back at Microlise

We are continually looking for ways to support and give back to the community, and this is just the start of great things to come. We have plenty of opportunities coming up this year to support our CSR mission, so watch this space for further news!
